Titans on HBO Max has exceeded expectations. Most notably in the villain category. The antagonists are characters that people don’t have a reason to care about. Especially since Lex Luthor has come and gone. Now, it’s Mother Mayhem.

She’s a character that you’d only know if you’re a fan of DC Comics. Nevertheless, Mother Mayhem has been the perfect villain for this incredibly dark show. All of the blood magic and death are making things more horrific.

The addition of Jinx (played by Lisa Ambalavanar) in episode 3 was great. She’s a fun and entertaining character that will add levity to the Titans‘ vibe being sometimes overly gloomy. Watching her and Dick Grayson discuss their past was hilarious. When Jinx said she thought Starfire was another one of Dick’s, “Pump and dump informants” it was impossible not to laugh. Dick Grayson is known for being promiscuous in DC Comics. It continues to be true in HBO Max’s Titans.

While Nightwing and Jinx find a way to fix Starfire, Raven is adjusting to not having her powers. Instead of complaining, Raven is enjoying the little things. For example, she could eat pancakes and smell maple syrup without thinking of horrible things happening to people.

Before Raven and Garfield could finish breakfast, they go into the woods. This is where viewers discover that Beast Boy’s visions are real. And there’s a prophecy in the tree full of animal bones. It says, “When the blood moon is full, the world will follow.” Whatever that means, we’ll certainly know more before the first half of the season ends.
