The Walking Dead series finale will bring the AMC show to an end but will it bring back Michonne to make it happen?

Michonne first made her presence felt in the season 2 finale of The Walking Dead when she showed up in a hooded cloak and saved Andrea from some nearby walkers. When we last saw her in season 10, she did the same for a new group of survivors.

One season later and it still doesn’t feel like she’s actually fully gone. Yes, actress Danai Gurira has left the show, but Michonne’s presence is still felt, as it’s been made clear that she’s off searching for her lost love Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in the hopes that he’s still alive. And daughter Judith continues to talk about her, hoping that she’s alive and well.

We also know that Michonne and Rick will be back on screens in their own six-part spinoff series that will continue (and conclude) their love story. The question is: Will Gurira appear in The Walking Dead‘s final episode to set up her return in the spinoff?

The final episode of The Walking Dead will undoubtedly feature plenty of surprises and fans are hoping that the return of Michonne will be one of them. Regardless of whether Danai Gurira actually appears in the episode or not, it’s likely that there will be some kind of reference to Michonne’s return.

For starters, this is the series finale and all series finales tend to pay tribute to many of the characters and moments that got the respective to show that far. It would be wrong to bow out without honoring Michonne.

Now, from a story standpoint, some kind of reference or cameo appearance would also work well, simply because recent episodes have continued to reference the character long after her departure. It wouldn’t make sense to stop now, especially as her return to the TWD Universe in the Rick and Michonne spin-off will be directly tied to Rick’s comeback too.
