Despite rumors that suggest otherwise, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special runtime isn’t as long as you might think.

On Friday, Nov. 25, Marvel will kick off the holiday season with its first live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe-set holiday special with the release of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

In the new holiday special, Mantis and Drax set out on a personal mission to give Star-Lord an unforgettable Christmas. To do so, the pair head to Earth in search of the ultimate Christmas present: Kevin Bacon.

The special is sure to be a perfect way to kick off the holiday season and Marvel fans are eager to see what Marvel has in store for the special. Because it’s only the second-ever MCU-set special from Marvel, though, there are a lot of questions regarding how long the special will be.

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special runtime

If you head to Google to search for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special runtime, you’ve likely been informed that the special has a runtime of 44 minutes. However, the special is actually a bit shorter than the runtime many have been reporting.

The actual runtime for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is only 42 minutes, which is much shorter than expected. That also makes the special more than 10 minutes shorter than Marvel Studios’ Werewolf by Night special, which came in at 54 minutes long.

While the special might not be as long as fans hoped, Marvel packed an amazing story into the special which is perfect for the holiday weekend!

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special arrives Friday, Nov. 25 on Disney Plus.
