Ever since Gamora died in Avengers: Infinity War, Star-Lord has been depressed. Mantis finds out that it’s almost Christmas on Earth and uses this to try and cheer her friend up. This sends her and Drax on a trip to Earth. Their mission is to get Kevin Bacon and bring him to their party.

Since Kevin Bacon is one of Star-Lord’s favorite actors, there’s no way this won’t make him happy, right? Unfortunately, Mantis and Drax aren’t aware that that aliens will frighten someone if they show up at their door unexpectedly.

Despite all of the things that have happened on Earth (like a giant stone Celestial in the ocean), seeing a bug-like woman and a giant green man busting into your house is still terrifying. In the preview, Kevin Bacon is running for his life. It will be funny to see if Kevin Bacon does travel with them to see Star-Lord and how he reacts to being in space and around other aliens.

After the party, Star-Lord will likely still be emotional – maybe more so. The holiday season is about family and Gamora is still dead. Nevertheless, death in the world of comic books and comic book movies isn’t permanent. The end of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special may lead right into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Perhaps this will all lead the team to go searching for Gamora and make their family complete.
