The Flash season 9 is not coming to The CW in December 2022
The Flash season 9 is the Scarlet Speedster’s swan song, but don’t be expecting it to air on The CW in the coming month.
There have been a lot of dark days at The CW for Arrowverse fans with the recent cancellations of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Naomi, and Stargirl, but at least they can take some solace in the fact that The Flash will return for one more outing.
The veteran superhero series was renewed for a ninth and final season last March, making it one of the lucky few to avoid the mass cancellation at the network. That said, it’s return will be a bittersweet one because season 9’s debut will also mark the beginning of the end for the veteran series.

The Flash season 9 release date predictions
The Flash season 9 will premiere on The CW in 2023. The network has yet to reveal a release window more specific than that, but it did confirm at its Upfronts Presentation back in May that it had opted to hold the final seasons of Flash and Riverdale (as well as new seasons of Superman and Lois and Nancy Drew, along with new series Gotham Knights) until midseason.
An online rumor recently suggested that the show’s ninth season would premiere in January but that was later proven to be false. That said, January is still a possibility for The Flash season 9, as The CW has previously kicked off its midseason schedule.
However, a February or March 2023 release window is more likely as it would allow the network to wrap up its current fall shows, freeing up slots for the midseason ones. Moreover, The Flash is familiar with March premieres, with its seventh season premiering in March 2021, and its eighth season returning to kick off its main storyline in March 2022.
Taking all of that into account, we predict a Spring 2023 release date for The Flash season 9, with March looking like a strong possibility. As always, that is just a prediction and it’s best to wait for official confirmation from The CW as far as when we can expect the show to return.
