1. Stargirl season 1

DC fans didn’t really know what to expect going into DC’s Stargirl. Would they get the more mature adult shows familiar with the DC Universe streaming service, or the more traditional light-hearted plot-of-the-week superhero shows we saw on The CW? The result was neither and both at the same time.

Stargirl was light-hearted like its Arrowverse counterparts, but it also possessed a maturity in its writing that we rarely see on network television these days, which is why it’s incredible that it managed to produce two seasons that were exclusive to network TV. But right now, we’re talking about the one that wasn’t.

The first season of Stargirl introduced us to Courtney Whitmore as she attempted to start over in a new town that she didn’t want to be in. She then found her way to the Comsic Staff, the Justice Society of America, and a rich history of Blue Valley that brought her closer to the stepfather she wanted nothing to do with. And in the midst of all of it, she was confronted with deadly supervillains in the form of the Injustice Society.

Stargirl‘s debut season was nothing short of a joy to watch. It started on a high and maintained that standard throughout, producing what was not just one of the best first seasons of a superhero show, but one of the very best superhero shows in general. Stargirl dared to be different, and it shined brighter because of that.

Thank you Stargirl for three wonderful seasons.
