How does Mr. Sinister killing the Quiet Council start the X-Men crossover Sins of Sinister? Find out right here.

Mr. Sinister has been one of the X-Men’s most dangerous enemies for decades. Unlike the other villains like Orchid, Friends of Humanity, or the Purifiers, Nathaniel Essex never really loses. Sure, he’s been defeated multiple times, sometimes he is flat out embarrassed, but he always comes away with some genetic information that will help him in the future. His most recent grab was his best yet.

The Quiet Council of Krakoa always knew that Mr. Sinister couldn’t be trusted. However, Krakoa was supposed to be a new beginning for mutants. The Council should have paid closer attention to what he was doing. He found a way to clone Moira MacTaggert and use her mutant resurrection abilities to predict and recreate futures. Both happened in the most recent issue of Immortal X-Men.

First, Sinister attempted to kill Hope Summers. Before he could, Destiny warned the Council. He was immediately killed. That didn’t stop him, though, as Essex continued to try and kill Quiet Council members and kept failing. His last attempt was his most successful. He killed five of the remaining eleven Council members (Storm, Hope Summers, Exodus, Xavier, and Emma Frost).

Destiny says she can find Essex and Kate Pryde is leading the charge. Too bad it’s too late. It’s time for the X-Men: Sins of Sinister arc to begin.

X-Men: Sins of Sinister has begun

In the trailer above, you can see that Mr. Sinister is caught by Cable and will face justice for his crimes. A shocked and scared Nathaniel Essex is punished with banishment and sent to The Pit. Xavier then says that it’s time for a new and kinder Krakoa. It’s a nice thought. But it’s not the end for the pale-faced villain.

Later, the trailer shows that The Pit doesn’t hold him. For all we know, the Nathaniel Essex that’s caught isn’t the dangerous one. Essex has enough clones of himself to stay hidden and trick the Quiet Council of Krakoa. Speaking of clones, the trailer shows mutants created and controlled by Sinister. He’s combined the DNA of mutants to create bastardized versions of the X-Men to fight his battles. It even looks like he cloned J. Jonah Jameson. A smart move. That means he can control part of the media.

There’s a war coming and Nathaniel Essex is in the middle of it. The trailer showed a host of Marvel Comics characters getting involved. For example, the Avengers team-up with the X-Men. If the reports from Marvel Comics are true (you can read them here), Sins of Sinister will recreate the Marvel Universe in his image. That is a terrifying thought.
