Jason Momoa going from Aquaman to Lobo could be a great move for him and fans of DC Comics.

Jason Momoa is one of the most well-liked celebrities in Hollywood. He always has a smile on his face, and no one seems to have anything bad to say about him. These are qualities you don’t normally see in people, especially not in Hollywood. It’s easy to see why Aquaman was a popular movie.

Not only was it an entertaining movie, but Jason Momoa’s popularity also brought more people in. In a time where fans started losing faith in the DCEU, Aquaman began the momentum of fun DC Comics movies. That being said, if you’re a fan of Momoa as Arthur Curry and in the DCEU, there could be a good news/bad news situation coming out of DC/Warner Bros. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom could be the last time you see Jason Momoa as the King of Atlantis.

That’s disappointing news. Like Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman, Momoa deserves to get a trilogy. All of the best like Christian Bale’s Batman and Robert Downey Jr. ‘s Tony Stark got one. Momoa is just as good as Aquaman. Here’s where the good news kicks in. Momoa might not be leaving DC Comics for good. He could be moving on to become one of the most despised and feared beings in the galaxy. He’ll go from King of Atlantis to the scourge of the galaxy. He may be playing Lobo.

Should Jason Momoa play Lobo?

Again, there’s good and bad to the potential change. The bad would Jason Momoa playing another DC Comics character in less than ten years. It’s one thing to play two comic book characters from different companies. It’s another to play two in the same universe in such a close amount of time. Thankfully, there’s a contrast in looks and personality.

First, Lobo wears biker clothing, he’s a pale warrior with black marks around his eyes. He’s dirty, chain smokes cigars, and most likely smells like stale beer. Momoa’s Arthur Curry looks like an underwater god. He’s almost always shirtless, he’s chiseled, well dressed, and flings his hair like a commercial for L’Oréal. That’s just their differing looks, though. Their personalities couldn’t be more different as well.

Everything that you see Aquaman do in the DCEU, multiply that by ten. Then, take away all of the morality and keep the smile. That’s Lobo. He’s a despicable, obscene, underhanded mercenary with a sense of morality that would make Mephisto blush. In spite of the differences between him and Aquaman, Jason Momoa would be absolutely incredible in this role. It’s also an opportunity for him to play a ruthless character – something he hasn’t done since Game of Thrones.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, there hasn’t been any confirmation yet. And the way Warner Bros has been going, this could go nowhere. After all, even though James Gunn acknowledged the report and that some of it may be true, he also added that some of it isn’t.

If Jason Momoa does end up playing Lobo, he could very well turn the character into a household name (much like James Gunn already accomplished at Marvel with the Guardians of the Galaxy), leading a successful franchise with an epic performance.
