With his time as Superman over, fans are hoping to see Henry Cavill join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and this art makes a compelling argument for why he’d be perfect as Captain Britain.

Henry Cavill portrayed one of the greatest DC superheroes of all time on the silver screen. Bringing Superman to life in the DC Extended Universe, he’s certainly no stranger to suiting up as beloved action heroes when he’s asked to.

Perhaps that’s why fans are already so eager to see him join the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that James Gunn has announced that Cavill’s time as Superman has come to an untimely end.

It’s been rumored for some time that he could play Captain Britain in the MCU as that character has been one that fans have been hoping to see introduced for quite a while now.

Debuting in Marvel Comics UK back in 1976, Brian Braddock is seen to be the UK equivalent of Steve Rogers’ Captain America. He is gifted with incredible powers by the magician Merlyn and, as a result, he is assigned to uphold the laws of Britain.

What Henry Cavill could look like as Captain Britain in the MCU

A recent piece of artwork from digital artist Rahalarts showcases Henry Cavill in the role of Captain Britain. The stunning image features the actor suited up in Captain Britain’s uniform, posed and ready for action against a London backdrop.

From the fanart, it’s clear that Cavill would look the part of the iconic hero – something we already knew because Cavill already knows how to play a superhero given his tenure as Superman.

Cavill portrayed the Kryptonian hero in the DCEU, appearing in films Man of SteelBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. He also appeared in the much better-received Zack Snyder’s Justice League, once again reminding fans how excellent he is as the Man of Steel.

Is Henry Cavill playing Captain Britain in the MCU?

Marvel Studios has yet to introduce the character of Captain Britain in the MCU, so the role has not been cast yet. That said, Henry Cavill sounds like he would certainly be up for the opportunity to play him and with his time in the DCEU over, the door could finally be open for Cavill to join the MCU.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he revealed that he has seen “the various rumors about Captain Britain” and that it would be “loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that.”

Cavill’s name has been attached to Marvel Studios in recent months, with a report suggesting that he was among seven huge signings set to appear in the MCU in the future. That report has yet to be proven true as Marvel has not publicly announced any castings involving those actors, but it goes without saying that Cavill would be a major addition to the MCU.

And as this epic fanart highlights, the star would be the perfect choice to play Captain Britain! With DC opting not to keep him around, their loss could be turned into Marvel’s gain should Marvel Studios look to bring him into the fold.
