2023 will be a big year for television but don’t be expecting these TV shows to make their presences felt on screens next year.

We’re in for a big year in 2023. Long-awaited movies will finally debut on big screens around the world and beloved TV shows will return for new seasons (all while some new ones carve out a place for themselves in the landscape). That said, a lot of programs won’t be making their presence felt next year.

Part of the reason for that is cancellations, because 2022 was a terrible year for that, with many beloved shows silenced before they should have been. And then there are those that were so successful, it will take a long time for their next seasons to make their way to screens.

From cancellations to final seasons to incredibly long waits, here are some TV shows that won’t be hitting our TV screens in 2023.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

Hearts were broken when the Arrowverse’s second-longest-running show was unjustifiably cut down after its wacky well-received seventh season. The CW’s cancellation of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow cut deep for many reasons, but none more so than the fact it was a veteran show on a network that prided itself on giving its success stories the conclusions they deserved.

Reports say that Warner Bros. didn’t want to pay for the sets anymore, leaving The CW with no choice, but it could also have been a casualty of the network’s sale to Nexstar (which resulted in a slew of cancellations shortly afterwards). Either way, Legends of Tomorrow made us laugh, cry, and look on in awe for seven wonderful years, and it deserved some kind of closure at the very least.
