Fear The Walking Dead will return for season 8 in the new year. When can viewers anticipate new episodes from the TWD spinoff?

AMC’s Walking Dead Universe is in uncharted waters now, for the world will continue to grow without the show that spawned it. The change is exciting but it can also be daunting for fans of the long-running TV franchise, which is why that even in a 2023 with no new episodes of The Walking Dead, we can rely on some familiarity in Fear The Walking Dead.

The veteran TWD offshoot returns to AMC with its eighth season with no indication as of yet that it will be the last. And to make things even more exciting, season 8 promises to be a more unique installment, as Madison Clark has finally returned years after her uncertain fate in season 4, with Kim Dickens once again a series regular.

Season 8 has been a long time coming, so just when can fans of the show expect it to return?

Fear The Walking Dead season 8 release date updates

Fear The Walking Dead season 8 will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2023. As of writing, it seems that early 2023 is the most likely possibility just because there are a lot of TWD spinoffs set to debut this coming year, and Fear is the only one with the majority of its season filmed (outside of The Walking Dead: Dead City which premieres in April).

Speaking of Dead City, yes it will premiere in April, meaning that Fear season 8 could debut in the weeks prior to its arrival, or the weeks after its first season ends. It’s worth bearing in mind that AMC suggested that Fear and Dead City would be the first two titles of 2023 in a trailer they revealed after the series finale of The Walking Dead.

That suggests that Daryl Dixon and the Rick and Michonne series will be held until later in the year (as both are also expected in 2023), which makes sense given they are much further behind on filming than the other two.

With all of that in mind, an early 2023 release for Fear The Walking Dead season 8 is likely, but don’t be surprised if AMC holds it until Spring instead. Regardless, expect it before summer.
