8. The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead may have had a few dud seasons in its 12-year run, but its final season was not one of them. It helped that it was split into three installments, and even though some of those installments were stronger than the others, it did set itself apart from previous seasons pretty well (which is something you definitely want to do with a final season).

The Commonwealth was a fitting antagonist for the final outing (as were the Reapers), heightening the stakes for the series finale when it was all or nothing for survival. Granted, the series finale may have been a little undercut because it had a job to do in setting up the multiple spinoffs, but season 11 ultimately sent The Walking Dead out on a high.

7. The Boys

The Boys is no stranger to making headlines, but season 3 was, by far, the comic book TV show’s most attention-grabbing offering. That might have had something to do with the show’s adaptation of the source material’s infamous Herogasm storyline, which heighted discussion and intrigue as to how they were going to pull it off.

Aside from that, though, season 3 also benefited from the introduction of Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy in what may be the show’s best casting decision yet, as well as another compelling look at the corrupt heroes and villains of this complex world, capped off by another character study of the show’s true antagonist Homelander.

Love it or hate, you just can’t look away from The Boys (no matter how much you want to sometimes!).
