Stranger Things season 5 is not coming to Netflix in January 2023

Stranger Things season 5 is in development, but the final season of Netflix’s biggest show won’t be coming in January 2023. 

It goes without saying that Stranger Things was the biggest Netflix show of 2022. After an extended hiatus, the show returned for its fourth season in the summer of 2022 with a season that blew viewers away and set up what is sure to be an unforgettable final season.

With just one season to tie up the narrative of the show, there is no telling what the Duffer brothers have planned. What is certain is that we should be in for what could be the show’s best season yet as Eleven and her pals prepare for their final battle with Vecna.

Fans are eager to see what the final season will hold and we’re going to have plenty of time to ponder the direction the season could go in.

The list of Netflix shows coming in January 2023 has been confirmed and, as expected, Stranger Things season 5 was not on the schedule for the month. While we never anticipated the show would be among the titles coming in January, it doesn’t make it any less disappointing as we can’t think of a better way to have been able to start 2023 than with new episodes of Stranger Things. 

Is Stranger Things season 5 coming in 2023?

Not only is Stranger Things season 5 not coming in January 2023, but the sad reality is that the final season of Netflix’s hit series isn’t likely to arrive at any point in 2023.

Filming on season 5 is not expected to begin until early 2023 and it’s expected the shoot will run for several months. The show will then enter post-production which typically takes a few months as well, which means we’re likely looking at another long hiatus for Stranger Things. 

The good news is that Stranger Things is expected to return for its final season in 2024, meaning we won’t have to wait as long for season 5 as we did for season 4, which was released nearly three years after season 4.

What’s going to be interesting is to see if the final season will finish in time for it to arrive in summer 2024, or if we might have to wait until later in the year for the final season to drop.
