As rumors swirl regarding Jenna Ortega’s involvement in Daredevil: Born Again, we’ve now been given a chance to see just what she could look like in the role.
White Tiger, also known as Ava Ayala, is a Marvel Comics superhero who first appeared in 1977. She is the youngest sibling of the Ayala family, a line of Brazilian-American heroes who have taken up the mantle of White Tiger throughout history and within the pages of Marvel Comics.
The fifth character to assume the White Tiger mantle, Ava is the younger sister of Hector Ayala as well as the aunt of Angela del Toro. Ava initially resisted her family’s expectations to become the next White Tiger, but eventually embraced her heritage and took on the role herself.
As White Tiger, Ava possesses superhuman strength, agility, and reflexes, as well as retractable claws and heightened senses. She also wields the Amulet of Power, a mystical artifact that grants her additional abilities, such as energy projection and the ability to heal herself. White Tiger is a skilled martial artist and uses her powers and training to fight crime and protect the innocent.
Throughout her career as White Tiger, Ava has faced numerous challenges and villains, including the villainous scientist Dr. Karl Malus and the criminal organization known as the Maggia. She has also worked alongside various Marvel superheroes, and it’s looking likely she could soon be making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut via the upcoming Disney Plus series Daredevil: Born Again.
Not only is the character rumored to be joining the cast of the show, but rumors are swirling suggesting Jenna Ortega might have been tapped to play the hero within the MCU.
What Jenna Ortega could look like as White Tiger in Daredevil Born Again
Inspired by rumors suggesting Jenna Ortega could be suiting up as White Tiger in Daredevil: Born Again, digital artist Josh “Clements.ink” has offered up a sneak peek of what Ortega could look like in the role.
In the jaw-dropping new concept art, Ortega rocks the character’s signature white and black suit set against the backdrop of an NYC street. While we don’t see Ortega rocking the character’s signature mask — which had varied over the years — the concept art paints quite the picture in showcasing how amazing Ortega would look in the role if Marvel were to come calling.
The art paints a compelling picture of how amazing Ortega could end up being in the role should Marvel cast her. Ortega absolutely captures the essence of the character and the art does an amazing job of giving fans an idea of what Ortega might look like as the character.
Is Jenna Ortega joining the MCU?
While Marvel has not announced Jenna Ortega’s casting in Daredevil: Born Again, there have been numerous reports which suggest the rising star has been tapped to join the cast as White Tiger.
CBR.com notes that many sources have speculated White Tiger has been cast for the upcoming Disney Plus original series with Ortega attached to play the role. With an 18-episode season planned, Daredevil: Born Again will definitely have plenty of time to introduce a new hero such as White Tiger and Ortega would be a major get for Marvel Studios as she’s hot off a breakout performance in Netflix’s Wednesday series.
Ortega has proven time and time again that she is capable of taking on complex characters and can hold her own against the best in the business, so let’s hope Marvel has indeed managed to sign her to the cast of its upcoming series!
Is Daredevil: Born Again coming in 2023?
While there are some amazing Marvel movies and shows coming in 2023, Marvel Studios Daredevil: Born Again is not among them and it was never intended to release in 2023. When first announced at SDCC, the plan has always been for the show to release in 2024 and that seems to still be the plan. Although production has hit some snags due to the Writers Guild of America strike, it seems to still be on track for release in 2024.
We have seen Marvel shifting around its release schedule in recent months so there is a chance the project could be delayed; however, it seems likely the show should be coming next year. What will be interesting is to see how Disney chooses to release the series which does boast the largest episode count of any Marvel Studios Disney Plus original series.
