The Walking Dead: Dead City is the first of the new TWD spinoffs. When is it expected to premiere on AMC?

Sunday nights just haven’t been the same without the old favorite The Walking Dead to tune into. Fans had over a year to prepare for the show’s final bow, but even with that extended final season and a thrilling series finale, they just weren’t ready to say goodbye.

The good news is that they won’t have to do that. Not really. The TWD Universe will reach new heights with multiple spinoffs adding new stories to the ever-expanding world of The Walking Dead. And one of the first of those is The Walking Dead: Dead City.

Originally titled Isle of the Dead, it stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who bring bitter rivals-turned-uneasy-allies Maggie Rhee and Negan Smith back to screen. But just when will it be on screens?

The Walking Dead: Dead City release date updates 2023

The new year will bring many new things and one of them is indeed The Walking Dead: Dead City. The first of the new TWD spinoffs, it’s set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in April 2023, opening up a new tale in the ever-growing TWD Universe.

AMC has yet to assign a more specific window, but it’s likely that it will debut on a Sunday (which does narrow down it’s potential premiere dates significantly). On that note, while it will be the first of the new spinoffs to debut, it might not be the first TWD series to air new episodes next year. Veteran spinoff Fear The Walking Dead will return for its eighth season in 2023 as well, and there is a pretty strong possibility that it could debut new episodes in the weeks leading up to Dead City (or the weeks after it).

Regardless, we’ll have plenty of new TWD adventures to enjoy next year, with the Daryl Dixon series and the long-awaited Rick and Michonne spinoff also set to debut in 2023.
