Riverdale season 7 will be the show’s last outing but when can viewers expect it to premiere on their TV screens?

Just when you thought Riverdale had tackled everything, it tackled superpowers. Season 6 was, by far, the most “out there” thing the show has done yet, as its core characters came together with their new superpowers to take down an immortal tyrant from a parallel universe who sought to destroy the town and disperse its mystical energy.

And Cheryl destroyed a comet with her witchcraft by absorbing everyone’s superpowers. And Baby Anthony is immortal. And Tabitha Tate is a Guardian Angel. Yeah, season 6 was a lot.

The show has been renewed for a seventh and final season, but when will it return to air new episodes?

Riverdale season 7 release date updates

Riverdale season 7 will premiere in 2023, with its current release window set to be spring 2023. The CW has yet to announce any more details, but it did confirm back at its Upfronts presentation in May that Riverdale‘s final season would not air in the fall, and would instead be held until 2023.

It was Entertainment Weekly who confirmed that the show would return in the spring, with the outlet also debuting the first look at season 7 – which featured plenty of classic Archie Comics looks because, yes, we’re going back in time for the final season. Taking that into account, a premiere date between March and April is quite possible.

Filming for the season is taking place now in Vancouver and it will conclude in June. This does suggest that season 7 will be a long one like its predecessors, with a 20-22 episode count being likely at this point.
