Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will introduce us to a new Cassie Lang. Who plays the young Stinger/Stature and why was she recast for Ant-Man 3?

The Lang family are in for their most dangerous adventure yet in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. That’s because it will involve a trip to the Quantum Realm and a confrontation with Kang the Conqueror.

If you’ve already seen the trailer for the movie, you’ll probably know that Scott’s daughter Cassie makes contact with the Quantum Realm with a beacon – which ultimately pulls the Langs, Hank Pym, and Hope and Janet van Dyne into it.

Cassie is set to play a major part in Ant-Man 3‘s story, but you may have noticed that she is now played by a different actress.

Who plays Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania?

Cassie Lang is played by Kathryn Newton in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This is the actress’ first time playing the role, but it isn’t the first time that Cassie has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

She was previously portrayed by Abby Ryder Forston in both Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp. When the character reappeared as a teenager in Avengers: Endgame, she was then played by Emma Fuhrmann.

Why was Cassie Lang recast for Ant-Man 3?

The first recast of Cassie Lang in the MCU can be easily explained by the fact that the character had gotten much older in the years between Ant-Man and the Wasp (which was set in 2018) and Avengers: Endgame (which was set in 2023). She had grown up, so Emma Fuhrmann was cast to play teenage Cassie in Endgame.

What’s less clear is why Emma Fuhrman is not reprising the role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It could have something to do with the fact that Marvel Studios is now portraying Cassie as a young adult, and with Kathryn Newton being a little older than her predecessor, that would allow them to do that.

It could also be down to the fact that Newton is one of Hollywood’s fastest-rising stars, so perhaps Marvel wanted to cast her in a prominent role – and with this being Cassie’s biggest story yet, the stars may have aligned.
