Is Corey Stoll playing MODOK in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania?
The new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania gave us our first look at MODOK, and he looks a little familiar.
It’s almost time for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne and their family have been through a lot up to this point, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe knows how to throw some curveballs, and something tells us the third movie might just be that for the title heroes.
The upcoming MCU film is the third in the Peyton Reed-directed franchise, and it fully explores the world that the saga has spoke about with such reverence and fear: The Quantum Realm. And by doing so, it will officially introduce us to the Avengers’ next big threat: Kang the Conqueror.
With anticipation high for the next MCU offering, Marvel Studios unveiled the second trailer for the movie during the National College Football Championships on ESPN. And that trailer featured a familiar face, but not exactly how you might expect.
Is Corey Stoll playing MODOK in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania?
The new trailer for Ant-Man 3 features our first look at the MCU’s live-action iteration of MODOK. The advanced, cybernetically-enhanced entity with an oversized head from Marvel Comics looks surprisingly comic-accurate when masked up. However, there is also a shot of him unmasked, and he looks surprisingly familiar.
While MODOK only appears unmasked in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer for all of a second, you might recognize that actor Corey Stoll is the one portraying him. Yes, that Corey Stoll who played Darren Cross / Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man movie in 2015.
Cross was last seen in the final battle sequence from that movie when his body parts began shrinking after his suit was destroyed. If his head did not, this could explain how he ended up becoming the MCU’s version of MODOK.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrives in movie theaters on February 17, 2023.
