Is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania the last Ant-Man movie?
Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne return in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. But is Ant-Man 3 the last movie in the Marvel series?
When Ant-Man was released in movie theaters back in 2015, few could have predicted how pivotal a character Scott Lang would go on to become. His movies were fun, light-hearted, and much-needed palette-cleansers after the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s more intense offerings.
That will all change in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as Scott and his family will kick off Phase 5 of the MCU in a huge way, traveling into the Quantum Realm and crossing paths with Kang the Conqueror – the entity that is destined to become the next Avengers-level-threat.
There has been a lot of talk about the future of Ant-Man beyond this film. After all, few come face-to-face with a universe-destroying Big Bad and survive. So will Quantumania be a trilogy-closer for the Ant-Man saga, or the beginning of a new chapter for it?
Is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania the last Ant-Man movie?
From an official standpoint, Ant-Man 3 looks to be the last Ant-Man movie for now. However, that’s only because Marvel Studios have yet to announce what the future holds for the character or the franchise.
Kang the Conqueror is shaping up to be the MCU’s next big bad going forward, so we know he will be back in some capacity, especially since the next Avengers movie is titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Taking that into account, Ant-Man could return in that movie if he is still part of the Avengers line-up that ultimately faces off against Ant-Man.
Furthermore, Marvel has a lot of empty spaces on their Phase 6 schedule, so more announcements will be coming. There is always a chance that another Ant-Man movie could be announced as a Phase 6 movie. As for when announcements could come, expect more updates from Marvel about Ant-Man’s future after Quantumania is released.
Right now, Ant-Man 3 is the last Ant-Man movie we know of, but Marvel could easily announce another one in the future. After all, we all thought Thor: Love and Thunder would be the final movie in that franchise and now a fifth one seems likely. The future of Ant-Man could end up looking quite similar to that.
