Is Echo season 1 coming in 2023? (release updates)
Marvel’s Echo will bring back Hawkeye’s Maya Lopez in her own starring role. But is the first season set to come out this year?
It’s been over a year since Marvel Studios’ festive and fun Hawkeye series debuted on screens. It was one of the most enjoyable MCU offerings thus far and ended up being far more pivotal to the shared universe of heroes than anyone expected.
One of the reasons for that is down to the fact that it introduced the world to Maya Lopez. The character, portrayed by Alaqua Cox, quickly became a fan-favorite, making us all the more excited about the fact that she’s about to headline her own Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney Plus.
Very little remains known about Echo at this point (other than the fact that it is set to feature the returns of both Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk). Naturally, though, audiences are ready to see Maya again and thrilled that she’s about to get the spotlight she deserves.
The question is, can we expect Echo to be released this year?
Echo release updates
Echo‘s release window remains up in the air right now. From an official standpoint, it’s still listed as coming in 2023, as Kevin Feige announced at San Diego Comic-Con that it will premiere in summer 2023 as part of Phase 5 of the MCU. However, a recent update suggests that it will likely be delayed until fall/winter 2023 instead.
Showrunner Marion Dayre made a recent appearance on The Writers Panel podcast and suggested that the show would likely be released towards the end of 2023, possibly coming in December. However, various rumors have suggested that the wait might be even longer.
As always, it’s best to wait for official confirmation from Marvel Studios and/or Disney Plus in regards to when we can expect Echo. Right now, its 2023 release window is still possible, but that could be about to change if the reports are true.
