The Last of Us introduces us to Joel’s brother Tommy pretty early on, but who plays the character on the new HBO series?

Tommy Miller makes his presence felt pretty early into HBO’s The Last of Us series. Fans of the video game that inspired the new post-apocalyptic drama know that Joel’s younger brother does factor into his life, but for those without the knowledge of the source material, it might come as a surprise to see such an important character not featured in the majority of promotional material.

Who is Tommy and how does he factor into the show? Well, you’re not getting any spoilers here, so you’ll have to watch the premiere episode for more information on that. What we can tell you is who plays the character in the series and where you’ve seen him before.

Who plays Tommy on The Last of Us?

The role of Tommy Miller is portrayed by Gabriel Luna. Luna has become a veteran of film and television, with his first ever role being in 2005 (and his first TV role coming in a 2008 episode of Prison Break).

On the cinematic side of things, he has appeared in movies such as Bernie, Transpecos, Balls OutFreeheld, and Gravy. However, he may be best known on film for his role as the Rev-9 in 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate, as the villainous cyborg went up against Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic Terminator and Linda Hamilton’s legendary Sarah Connor.

Luna has also appeared in TV shows such as MatadorWicked City, and will next appear in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s upcoming Netflix series FUBAR. That said, he may be best known in the TV world for playing Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider in 10 episodes of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD – a role he almost reprised in a spinoff that unfortunately didn’t go forward.
