Has Ms. Marvel been cancelled? (Is Ms. Marvel season 2 happening?)
Is Ms. Marvel season 2 actually happening or has Marvel closed the door on that possibility?
After who-knows-how-many delays, Ms. Marvel finally made its presence felt on Disney Plus last summer, and it’s pretty safe to say that it was worth the wait. Reviews were positive (with the show owning the highest score for a Marvel Studios series yet on Rotten Tomatoes), as was reception to Iman Vellani’s delightful portrayal of Kamala Khan.
We already know that Kamala will be back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year, co-headlining The Marvels along with Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau/Photon (Teyonah Parris). That said, what does the future hold for the Ms. Marvel series?
There’s definitely potential for a second season, so if you have questions about the future of the TV series, here are the most recent updates.
Has Ms. Marvel been cancelled?
No, Ms. Marvel has not been cancelled. Like its predecessors, it was a major success for Disney Plus and Marvel Studios, introducing its title hero into the MCU, setting the stage for The Marvels, and perhaps even laying the groundwork for the arrival of some very familiar faces.
That said, the vast majority of the Marvel Studios-produced Disney Plus shows are set up to be limited series, meaning that they are only designed to run for one season. We saw this with the likes of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye – all of which set up future MCU projects without having a second season.
There are exceptions to the rule, with both Loki and What If…? getting second seasons. And Ms. Marvel could definitely have the potential for another adventure as well, depending on what happens in The Marvels.
Ms. Marvel season 2 updates
Ms. Marvel is one of the few Marvel shows that could actually feasibly get a season 2 and rumors have suggested that it will happen in the future.
After the show’s first season concluded, insider Daniel Richtman said that Marvel had already greenlit a second season. While Marvel have not yet confirmed whether that is true or not, things are sounding positive on the rumors front. In fact, a more recent rumor suggests that both Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight will return for season 2 and that both will premiere on Disney Plus before 2026’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
As always, it’s best to wait for official confirmation from Marvel Studios before getting too excited about the possibility of Ms. Marvel season 2, but we’ll probably get more information sometime this year with The Marvels arriving in theaters this summer.
