Henry Cavill may have just gotten replaced by another Hemsworth
A new rumor suggests that Henry Cavill may no longer appear in yet another film and that he has been replaced by Chris Hemsworth in the role.
The final portion of 2022 was an emotional rollercoaster for Henry Cavill. The man people have wanted to see reprise his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe finally got offered the chance to return to the role, only for it to be snatched away from him five weeks later due to DC Studios’ pivot in a new direction.
In between the good and the bad of the Superman news, he also revealed that he would be stepping down from his role as Geralt of Rivia on Netflix’s The Witcher, with actor Liam Hemsworth stepping in to replace him from season 4 onwards.
However, a new rumor suggests that he might end up getting replaced in another one of his upcoming roles by another Hemsworth brother.
Will Henry Cavill be replaced in Highlander?
According to Giant Freakin Robot, Cavill may no longer be attached to the Highlander reboot he was cast for back in February last year. That report also suggests that Thor star Chris Hemsworth is being eyed to replace him.
If this does pan out to be true, it would be an unusual twist for Cavill to be replaced in two projects by a Hemsworth brother but stranger things have happened in Hollywood. It also wouldn’t be totally out of the equation for Cavill to step down from the Highlander reboot because he has just recently signed on to star in and produce a Warhammer 40,000 series for Amazon Prime Video, so he’s going to be quite busy.
That said, it’s important to take all rumors with a pinch of salt. Nothing has been confirmed yet, and even with the few updates on Highlander in recent months, the most recent came from director Chad Stahelski in August when he told Collider that the movie was “closer than we’ve ever been”.
