Invincible should stay animated

There have been more than a few comic book projects that have been made into live-action movies and TV shows that shouldn’t have been. It’s one of the reasons why they weren’t renewed or well reviewed. Deadly Class is usually the example this writer gives to prove this point. However, this time, let’s look at Mark Millar’s comic book adaptation Wanted.

The Wanted comic book series was not for all audiences. When it came to adapting it for live-action, a lot was changed in order to make it acceptable to the masses. In fact, it’s almost only Wanted in name. Had the comic had an animated feature like Invincible, things could have been toned down and still stayed true to the source material.

This writer has two concerns with a live-action Invincible project. First, the animated version works so well. There are a lot of creative beings that may look terrifying if they weren’t in a cartoon. Since Invincible isn’t going for horror, that would be a bad look for the show. Second, a movie simply wouldn’t allow for more than a few characters to shine. The long form of a series allows for more development and that’s what makes Invincible an elite show and comic book series.

With all of that being said, if the franchise wants a live-action movie, there are other options.
