Heartstopper season 2 is not coming to Netflix in February 2023

Netflix will be adding a lot of new titles this coming month but Heartstopper season 2 won’t be among them. 

It’s hard to believe that it has been close to a year since Heartstopper premiered on Netflix. The little show that could arrived on screens in April 2022, much to the excitement of fans of the comic book it was based on, but few could have predicted the success it would go on to achieve within that month alone.

A heartwarming story and endearing cast saw the show become a phenomenon in a very short space of time, prompting Netflix to renew it within a month for two more seasons. Naturally, this announcement was met with praise on the one-month anniversary of the show’s release.

The second season has already been filmed but don’t be anticipating its arrival this coming month. Netflix has already announced what is coming to the streamer in February and sadly Heartstopper is not on the list. That said, when can we expect it to premiere?

Heartstopper season 2 release date predictions

Heartstopper season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix in 2023. Fans were hoping that would be the case since season 2 wrapped filming in November, but given that the streamer held onto the first season for close to a year before it premiered, there was an outside chance that might not happen. Thankfully, Netflix announced over the Christmas holidays that Heartstopper fans would get season 2 sometime in the new year.

As for when it could premiere, the earliest would likely be summer. Heartstopper definitely feels like a summer show, and since spring would probably be too early to have the season prepared, a summer 2023 release is a strong possibility. However, it’s important to bear that surprisingly long wait for season 1 in mind. If Netflix opts to do the same with season 2, we could be looking at a winter 2023 release window instead.

As always, it’s best to wait for official confirmation from Netflix, but we will say that it probably won’t be premiering until summer at the very earliest.
