Jon Cryer pitched a Legion of Doom series to Warner Bros.
Supergirl actor Jon Cryer’s reign as Lex Luthor has come to an end but not before he pitched a series over at The WB.
Former Two and a Half Men and Supergirl actor Jon Cryer has portrayed Superman’s sworn enemy, Lex Luthor, in the latter part of Supergirl’s run and with all things in the Arrowverse that have come to an end. However, just before his appearances started to die down, he pitched a series to The CW centered on the Legion of Doom.
Who is the Legion of Doom?
The Legion of Doom is a group of supervillains who first appeared in the Hanna-Barbera-produced series, Challenge of the Super Friends, which ran from Sept. 9, 1978, up until Dec. 23, 1978, on ABC. They were a group based on and set to combat members of DC Comics’ Justice League.
During the early conception of the Legion of Doom, they were meant to be called the League of Evil and were supposed to be led by Shazam’s (Captain Marvel) nemesis Doctor Sivana, although due to Filmation producing Shazam! and The New Adventures of Batman, Hanna-Barbera did not have access to such characters as the aforesaid evil scientist, Mister Atom, King Kull, Joker, Penguin, Beautia Sivana, Catwoman, and Mr. Freeze.

Now, according to Cryer, he pitched a series that featured the popular DC Super Fiends following the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover that featured across the shows Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow.
At that point, there were many incarnations of the gang in various media such as subsequent animated and live-action series, comic books, and video games. The latest version of them being the main antagonists in Legends of Tomorrow season 2 did not include Luthor. Instead, it was led by Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher), Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Damien Darkh (Neal McDonough), and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller).
Unfortunately for Cryer, EW broke the scoop that his Luthor has been replaced by Michael Cudlitz of The Walking Dead fame for the upcoming season of Superman and Lois, which already has been established to be set in a separate Earth from the Arrowverse.
