No Bane, no problem! Fans of Dave Bautista shouldn’t worry, there’s still a place for the former WWE champ in James Gunn’s DC Universe

Before Tom Hardy dawned the mask, fan cast all across the web had Dave Bautista as Bane. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor made no secret about his desire to play the beefed-up nemesis of Batman. Apparently, he spoke with James Gunn about the possibility but Bane ain’t happening.  Gunn is tasked with building the DC Universe from scratch and bring in younger actors for a fresh take, leaving Bautista out of the picture for now.

But don’t worry, there is still a place for Bautista in the DC Universe. With Gunn and producer Peter Safran taking the helm as co-CEOs and co-chairs of DC Studios, they are focused on telling the “Biggest Story Ever Told” across multiple films, television shows, and animated projects. Bautista, who stars as Drax the Destroyer in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, has proven his ability to bring larger-than-life characters to life, and the DC Universe is full of opportunities for the 54-year-old actor.

Bautista has a passion for playing characters he can bring justice to, and although he may not be the right fit for Bane, there are plenty of other roles in the DC Universe that he could bring his unique brand of energy and enthusiasm to. With Gunn and Safran at the helm, the possibilities for the DC Universe are endless, and Bautista’s talent and versatility make him a perfect fit for any number of exciting roles.

In the end, Bautista may not be playing Bane, but there is no doubt that he will continue to captivate audiences with his larger-than-life performances, no matter where he pops up in the DC Universe. So let’s sit back, relax, and get ready for the next chapter of Dave Bautista’s incredible career which may include a role in the DCU. Since he’s like family to James Gunn, who knows what role we’ll see him in? We could see him as the leader of The Authority, or any of these other roles.
