With the X-Men being one of the most iconic and beloved teams of heroes, fans have been eagerly waiting to see their favorite mutants join the MCU. One of the most popular and well-known characters from the X-Men is Storm, and her introduction into the MCU will undoubtedly have a huge impact on the franchise.

Not only is she an important member of the X-Men team, but Storm is also a beloved character in her own right, with a strong and dedicated fanbase.
With the looming arrival of Storm, fans are eager to see who Marvel might tap to help bring the character to life in the MCU. Among the names being floated out in fan communities is an actress who is no stranger to playing a superhero: Titans star Anna Diop.

In wake of Titans’ cancellation after four seasons, buzz has begun to pick up about the prospect of Starfire actress Anna Diop making the jump from DC to Marvel to play the X-Men’s iconic heroine. The online chatter seemed to have inspired digital artist Tobi’s Art, who has released a stunning piece of concept art that showcases just how incredible Diop could be in the role of Storm if Marvel came calling.
Via the breathtaking art, Diop is transformed into Storm fittingly donning the outfit that started it all: her sleek black cut-out super suit and signature headpiece, first seen when Storm made her debut in Giant Size X-Men in 1975. Of course, you can’t have Storm without a little bit of lightning which is what truly ties the look together and helps to showcase just how absolutely astounding Diop could be in the role.
The art does a brilliant job of creating a compelling argument for why Diop should be at the top of Marvel’s list when the time comes to cast Storm. She absolutely embodies the character in the concept art, and as we’ve seen in Titans Diop is more than capable of shining among an ensemble cast!
Has Storm been cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
At this time, Marvel has not yet cast any X-Men characters. It has also not announced any X-Men live-action projects with the only current X-men project from Marvel in known active development being the X-Men ’97 reboot.
We do know Deadpool 3 is currently underway and is expected to be set within the MCU which means the film will mark the debut of several key X-Men in the MCU, just ones played by familiar faces instead of new ones. The film is set to bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in addition to welcoming the return of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.
Is Anna Diop interested in playing Storm in the MCU?
While Marvel might not have formally begun announcing X-Men casting news, there has been a lot of buzz about the addition of the X-Men to the MCU which has created a lot of interest among actors in the industry. This includes Anna Diop who actually has expressed direct interest in playing Storm in a film.
During an interview with Slashfilm, Diop revealed she has had conversations with director Nikyatu Jusu, with whom she worked on the film Nanny, about making a Storm movie together. In fact, it’s something she seemed to hint has come up on more than one occasion.
"“Me and Nikyatu keep threatening to make Storm together, which is also a superhero. But with her doing it, it would be so elevated and so mind-blowing. So that’s something we chat about from time to time.”"
Clearly, there is an interest on Diop’s end in playing the role, and with her time as Starfire coming to an end, the timing could be perfect for Marvel to take her up on her interest by casting her as Storm!
