No one should be shocked that Harley Quinn on HBO Max is a hit. Beyond Harley being among the most beloved comic book characters, the show itself is phenomenal.
Part of the program’s success comes from creativity. While the show is made for adults, it hasn’t misused the R-rating. There’s a lot of blood and violence, but it’s always well placed. Other than a few butts and an orgy with the Court of Owls, there hasn’t been any real nudity or intimate scenes. The upcoming Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special may change that.
Don’t be shocked if a lot of boundaries are pushed in the upcoming Harley Quinn special. Before season 3 debuted, the creative team behind Harley Quinn wanted to feature a rather, well, intimate scene between Batman and Catwoman. That idea was axed. In the background of the trailer below, you can see that same act going on. This could hint that the Valentine’s Day Special will push the sexual content further than they have so far. Since this is a special, why not take things to another level?
The other thing to look forward to is a bunch of random DC Comics characters. The trailer opens with Zatanna and The Flash, but will there be other cameos? During The 83rd Annual Villy Awards episode, The Joker was beating Jason Todd with a crowbar. That means Red Hood may exist in this universe. Could he pop up on a date with Artemis of Bana-Mighdall or Arsenal or both? Tee Franklin’s Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: Legion of Bats! has shown multiple villains like Black Mask, Porcelain, and Poison Ivy’s ex The Gardener a.k.a. Dr. Bella Garten. Will they make an appearance?
