The Last of Us starts with Joel and Ellie spending the first part of the show driving to Wyoming. Along the way, Ellie annoys Joel with puns from a book she’s reading. Later, Joel returns the favor with the smell of his coffee. This was the first time they bonded. Their moment was short lived. The two travelers were ambushed after entering the city.

Most of this episode was like the The Last of Us game. Joel taking out his attackers resembled action from the source material. Later, Joel and Ellie hiding out and having a sentimental moment was similar to what we would have seen as a cut scene in the game as well. It was a nice way to return to the intense premise after the previous episode was so emotional.

The episode ends with a young kid pointing a gun at Joel and telling him to be quiet. If you’ve played the game, then you know this is Henry’s son. Henry is the person Kathleen was looking for. While she wasn’t in the game, she was a fantastic addition. Kathleen helped introduce a character that’s going to lead to yet another heartbreaking moment. If you think what happened to Tess was bad, you haven’t seen anything yet. Unfortunately, this isn’t the last of the heart wrenching moments in The Last of Us.

The show’s fifth episode is almost upon us, and it will premiere a little earlier due to the Super Bowl taking place on Sunday night. Here’s all you need to know about the next episode and how to watch it online.
