If you were watching the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer and had questions about Gamora, here is what you need to know.

Gamora (Zoe Saldaña) has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since her first appearance in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. One of Thanos’ two formidable daughters, she was a force-to-be-reckoned with as she did his bidding, reluctantly. However, she joined the title group of misfits and became one of the MCU’s greatest heroes.

Unfortunately, she died in Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos sacrificed her so that he could get the Soul Stone, adding to his collection of Infinity Stones in his bid to wipe out half of the universe. However, she returned and will once again be back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

How is Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?

If you were watching the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Super Bowl trailer and wondered why Gamora is back, then you might have missed Avengers: Endgame. Well, in case you did, what happened in that movie was that the Avengers’ time in 2014 disrupted the timeline, resulting in that Thanos bringing Gamora and Nebula to the present day with him to destroy the team of heroes looking to stop him.

Even though this Gamora hadn’t yet joined up with the Guardians, she helped the Avengers take down Thanos and save half of the universe, seeing the humanity in her present-day sister in the process.

She doesn’t have the same emotional connection to the Guardians that the previous version of her did, but that’s likely what Guardians 3 is for. Will she fall for Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) all over again?
