The MCU’s misfits return for one last colorful adventure but who is the villain they will face in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?

It’s time to reconnect with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most outlandish group of superheroes. Yes, the Guardians are back.

If it seems like we’ve just recently caught up with them, that’s because we did in the awesome Holiday Special, which streamed on Disney Plus in November. But now, they return for what is gearing up to be their final silver screen adventure together in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Mantis, Nebula, Rocket and Groot have all faced many threats before (including Thanos), but who will their next antagonist be? Here’s what you need to know about the villains of Guardians 3.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 villain explained

The main villain of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the High Evolutionary. Portrayed by Chukwudi Iwuji (who also appeared in DC’s Peacemaker), the character is described as being “Shakespearean” but “charming” at the same time, which sounds like it could be incredible. What also makes him worth paying attention to is the fact that he’s Rocket’s creator and that he is intent on creating a race of “super beings” by forcibly enhancing other species.

Someone else that the Guardians would need to take seriously in this movie is Adam Warlock. Portrayed by Will Poulter, Adam is a character fans have wanted to see make his MCU debut for some time now, and the fact that it’s almost here is very exciting indeed. He is primarily an anti-hero in the comics, often helping protect worlds from major threats, but he does occasionally find himself in villainous territory.

Adam could be considered a threat to the heroes of the film because he was created by High Priestess of the Sovereign Ayesha to take out the Guardians. The Sovereign are very much enemies that Guardians are responsible for making, after their run-in with them in Vol. 2, so it will be interesting to see their dynamic with Adam Warlock and what the outcome of that run-in will be.
