Meet The Flash movie’s all-new Justice League
The director of The Flash movie has teased a different roster of the Justice League team than the one we know.
The Flash movie is finally set to come out this summer, and the promotion has already begun, with a brand new poster and Super Bowl trailer kicking it off. Little is known about the movie right now, but it has been confirmed that it will feature a different Justice League than the one we’re used to in the DCEU movies.
As reported by The Direct, director Andy Muschietti teased a new take on the Justice League for moviegoers who don’t yet know what to expect from this version of the super team.
Who is on the new Justice League in The Flash movie?
From a recent movie featurette for The Flash, the director put together a rundown of the various members of the new Justice League in the upcoming film. They are:
- Michael Keaton’s Batman
- Sasha Calle’s Supergirl
- Two versions of Ezra Miller’s Scarlet Speedster (who both are Barry Allen).
Ben Affleck will reprise his role as the Justice League’s Batman, but it seems that this will take place before the worlds collide in The Flash, so it’s unlikely that he will be part of this all-new Justice League.
There were also rumors of the DCEU’s main Justice League members such, as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill’s Superman and Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman, appearing in cameo roles. However, due to recent developments at DC Studios that involved the axing of Wonder Woman 3, the cameos of Gadot and Henry Cavill’s Superman have reportedly been cut.
What part does this Justice League have to play in The Flash?
As explained by DC Comics CCO Jim Lee in the same featurette, the multiverse is the central theme of The Flash, therefore this Justice League which consists of the aforesaid team members is “not as powerful” as the mainstream original timeline version in the DCEU. The oncoming threat seems to be General Zod and his number two, Faora, who are both rumored to appear in the movie. What is presumed is the team of heroes will unite together to defeat the rogue Kryptonians.
There are also rumblings about the film’s primary villain being the Dark Flash – so could one of the two Barry Allens in the movie be the real threat that the Justice League must stop?
The Flash stars Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Ron Livingston, Kiersey Clemons, Maribel Verdú, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, and Rudy Mancuso.
Andy Muschietti directed from a screenplay by Christina Hodson based on a screen story by Joby Harold, John Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein, Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco are producing. Marianne Jenkins serves as an executive producer.
The Flash is finally set to exit the Speed Force and hit theaters on June 16, 2023.
