The Flash season 9 returns to The CW next week with its third episode. Here’s everything you need to know about “Rogues of War”.

Barry Allen, Iris West-Allen, and all of The Flash family are preparing to wrap up their legendary decade-long story, but it won’t be smooth-sailing for Central City’s greatest heroes. The Arrowverse series returned to The CW to kick off its final season this month, and it wasted little time in introducing us to the season’s new stories, adventures and threats.

The Red Death wants to isolate The Flash in the hopes of taking him down, and she has no problem using Rogues like Captain Boomerang to help her do that. But Boomerang is only the beginning of the Rogues that the Scarlet Speedster needs to worry about, as there are about to be some more familiar faces upending things in Central City.

That was clearer than ever after episode 2, and if you’re ready for episode 3, here is everything you need to know about it.

The Flash season 9 episode 3 release date

The third episode of The Flash‘s ninth season will air on The CW next Wednesday, February 22, at 8:00 p.m. ET. It will air ahead of a brand new episode of Kung Fu season 3.

While the show was originally a staple of Tuesday nights, it has been a Wednesday night regular since its eighth season.

With The Flash’s iconic rogues continuing to play a part in the final season, the third episode of the season will see that storyline reach its potential boiling point. Barry and Iris attempt to figure out what they are planning (and why they are doing what they are doing), and this could lead to the team bringing in some unlikely help. Do they have some rogues of their own, perhaps?

Here’s the official synopsis for The Flash season 9, episode 3 released by The CW:

"ON THE MOVE – Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) start to put together the pieces of what’s happening in Central City and believe they know what the Rogues are after. Team Flash works together and recruits some unlikely allies to help, and the plan does not go as Team Flash expects. Meanwhile, Allegra (Kayla Compton) does her best to avoid having a conversation with Chester (Brandon McKnight)."

The Flash season 9 episode 3 trailer aired on The CW after the second episode. It reveals that Barry and Hartley Rathaway (Andy Mientus) turn to Goldface and The Hotness for help stopping the new Rogues.

The first photos for both the second and third episodes of the season were unveiled by The CW around the time of the season 9 premiere. The latter’s promo stills surfaced just after the premiere aired on the network. There aren’t many (as of yet) but here are the four that were released, and what’s happening in them.

The first image is, of course, our Scarlet Speedster Barry Allen, doing what he has done so many times before – meeting with Team Flash in S.T.A.R. Labs to discuss whatever their newest cause for concern is. Could this have something to do with the returning Rogues?

Speaking of Team Flash and S.T.A.R. Labs, the team will gather in the show’s most familiar set, the cortex (to talk strategy, perhaps?), as they deal with the threat of the Rogues and the Red Death.

The team’s conversation must be quite concerning, because the usually cheery Chester P. Runk looks on quite unnerved. Can the Rogues be stopped?

Speaking of concern, Barry Allen looks a little unnerved by whatever startles him from behind. Has he deduced a clue while doing his day job as a CSI, or has someone else snuck up behind him?
