Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has arrived in movie theaters, but is it suitable for family-viewing? Here’s what you need to know.

Marvel Studios have three big releases ready for the silver screen this year, and the first of those is set to kick off Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. To do that, it will take us deep into the Quantum Realm. Yep, it’s time for Ant-Man and the Wasp (and their whole family!) to return. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is here.

This is the third film in the Ant-Man franchise, and if you remember the other ones, you’ll know they are pretty fun. However, Quantumania is set to be the biggest in the franchise yet, and that means introducing audiences to the official big bad of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, Kang the Conqueror.

For that reason alone, Ant-Man 3 will carry more emotional weight than the previous two. If you’re wondering whether it will be as suitable for family-viewing as its predecessors, here’s what you need to know.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania age rating

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has an age rating of PG-13. It has received that rating for scenes of “action” and “violence”, as well as for featuring some potentially mature “language”.

If you’re familiar with the Ant-Man movies, you’ll probably know that this is the same age rating that both of those and every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie both before and after them received. Marvel Studios is known for producing movies that appeal to all ages, so it tends to hold back on making anything too mature, allowing each movie to maintain its kid-friendly approach.

This Ant-Man movie will probably be more serious and less funny than the previous two (given how most of it will take place in the Quantum Realm with life-or-death stakes and the introduction of Kang the Conqueror to deal with), so that’s worth bearing in mind. But you know your kids and what they like and don’t like. So, if they liked the previous Marvel movies, then it’s pretty likely they’ll enjoy this one too.
