Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania parents guide (Is Ant-Man 3 kid-friendly)
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is arriving in movie theaters across the world, but is Ant-Man 3 kid-friendly?
Scott Lang and his merry band of Quantum Realm-hopping friends return for yet another adventure in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. If you’ve seen the trailers, you’ll know that they are in for their biggest adventure yet, as Kang the Conqueror is waiting for them in the Quantum Realm.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe kicks off Phase Five in a huge way with this movie, and it will undoubtedly be one that people flock to the movie theaters to see.
If you’re planning on taking your kids to see Ant-Man 3 this weekend, and would like to know what to expect, here’s all the information you need.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania age rating
Ant-Man 3 has an age rating of PG-13. That’s standard for not only Ant-Man movies, but all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies as it allows each of the franchise’s installments to appeal to a wide variety of audiences, especially younger audiences.
If you’re still not sure whether that’s enough to take your kids to see it, here’s a more detailed breakdown on the boundaries that Quantumania does and doesn’t push.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania nudity
There is no nudity in Ant-Man 3. While Thor: Love and Thunder did feature one brief shot of nudity for comedic value, the MCU movies tend to steer clear of that as it risks affecting that PG-13 age rating. And with all of the characters trapped in the Quantum Realm, there is no time for nudity!
Is there bad language in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania?
If you’re familiar with the Marvel movies, you’ll probably already know that the one mature area they do often venture into is bad language, but even then it’s very occasional. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is no different. The word “sh*t” is used once and the word “d*ck” is used a few times as well.
Is Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania scary?
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a little darker and more serious than previous Ant-Man movies. Some of the creatures in the Quantum Realm can be a little formidable, but they are designed in a way that they aren’t particularly scary.
Kang the Conqueror is portrayed as an intimidating threat and he is definitely all of that, threatening to hurt some people badly on one occasion, and using his powers to inflict pain on others in a battle sequence.
Ant-Man 3 action
We love our action in our Marvel movies, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has plenty of it. The vast majority of fights are your typical Marvel showdowns with punching, kicking, throwing, laser guns (and a giant Ant-Man taking on the threats of the Quantum Realm). That’s nothing new when it comes to the MCU.
However, there is one battle scene that was teased in the trailers, which sees Scott and Kang get quite physical. The latter repeatedly punches Ant-Man in a bid to show him that he’s “out of his league”, and it does leave Scott a little bloody.
Is Ant-Man 3 suitable for kids?
Overall, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a much darker, heavier and more serious movie than the previous two Ant-Man movies. While they were smaller-scale heist movies, this is a much grander, expansive superhero adventure. So, yeah, in that way, it’s much more like your typical Marvel movie. But it still finds plenty of time for its own kind of humor.
Ant-Man 3 may be darker but it’s still a relatively light-hearted movie. It’s fun, adventurous and enjoyable like all of the other MCU installments. Nobody knows your kids better than you do, so if they like the MCU movies, they will probably love this one too. Just be wary of that physical fight between Kang and Ant-Man.
