Marvel pulls fast one on fans by burying The Marvels date change in poster
By Cody Schultz
Marvel Studios just pulled a fast one on its fans with The Marvels delayed to November, an announcement it tried to bury in a new poster.
Heading into 2023, the year was looking to be one of the most exciting years yet for Marvel fans. Across the year, Marvel Studios was slated to bring fans three new theatrical releases as well as at least five new Marvel Cinematic Universe-set series on Disney Plus. That was the plan, but it seems Marvel Studios has since had a major change of heart and is making some bold moves — without much transparency or notice being provided to fans.
On the heels of a new report from The Hollywood Reporter which suggests Marvel Studios will be delaying at least three of its Disney Plus original series, Marvel has now decided to delay the upcoming theatrical release of The Marvels — a move that blindsided fans due to the way in which the studio went about announcing the date change.
The Marvels delayed as Marvel Studios blindsides fans
On the day Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantuamania is hitting theaters worldwide, Marvel has put another franchise on ice with the studio shifting The Marvels out of its previously announced summer spot and pushing the highly anticipated Captain Marvel sequel to November 2023.
While release dates are nothing new for films, including Marvel movies, it’s the way in which Marvel opted to share this new release date that has left fans feeling betrayed and blindsided. Rather than leading with the film’s delay or announcing it as a news update, the studio instead attempted to bury the announcement by distracting fans with a stunning new poster teasing the upcoming project.
And while Marvel might have seemed to play things cool by burying the lead, fans were quick to put the studio on blast for the shady move.

Ultimately, the date change could be a good thing for the film as November has given Marvel several successful box-office hits over the years. However, it’s the way Marvel Studios went about announcing the date change that has left fans feeling slighted, and understandably so.
