The Last of Us Bloater actor has fans stunned with jaw-dropping muscles
By Cody Schultz
The Last of Us fans are thirsting for the show’s Bloater stuntman Adam Basil, after discovering the shockingly jacked actor under the Bloater suit.
Since kicking off its run in January, The Last of Us has been setting the internet on fire with its amazing storytelling and equally amazing cast. The premiere was among HBO’s most-watched debuts and helped to pull audiences into its world right off the bat. The show’s third episode moved us all to tears as it told the beautiful and unexpected love story of Bill and Frank. And most recently, the fifth episode left fans absolutely gutted by the emotional tale of Sam and Henry.
That same episode introduced audiences to a new creature with the debut of the Bloater, the fourth, rarest, and most dangerous stage of the infected in The Last of Us gaming franchise. These creatures take years to develop which makes them incredibly strong and physically imposing, and the thick fungus that covers their bodies essentially acts as armor making them incredibly hard to bring down.
The creature wreaked havoc in the episode showcasing just how dangerous they can be and was a truly terrifying sight to behold. So imagine the internet’s shock when they realized the man underneath the monstrous creature is actually a total smokeshow.
The Last of Us Bloater actor Adam Basil is jacked
While the Bloater might be a grotesque and bulky-looking creature, the man responsible for bringing the creature to life is nothing like the character fans see on screen which is perhaps why so many fans continue to obsess over the actor behind the character.
The role of the Bloater in The Last of Us is played by veteran stuntman Adam Basil, whose previous credits include Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Beauty and the Beast, and fellow HBO hit, Game of Thrones. As fans have come to discover, Basil is a 6’6 mountain of a man whose jacked physique was hidden under the Bloater’s suit.
Just one look at the shirtless locker room selfie in which he showcases his hard-earned muscles that begins Basil’s pinned holiday recap video should be enough to help explain the internet’s obsession with the Bloater, who has become an unexpected sex symbol.
Fans continue to flock to Basil’s social media account to share their affinity for the Bloater who fans have given all sorts of nicknames too including big daddy mushroom and papa clicker.
The influx of fan remarks hasn’t gone unnoticed by Basil who recently confessed to Entertainment Weekly that his character “seems to be a bit of a sex icon.” That newfound fame has led to some crazy interactions with fans which have been a whirlwind for Basil.
“He’s captured a lot of people’s imaginations. Someone asked me if I’d come to their wedding. I’ve had people sending me love messages. He really brought out something in people that I don’t think even they knew they had,” Basil told EW. “He’s the big daddy mushroom, I think there’s been a [meme].”
