15 best comic book romances of all time
By Mark Lynch
12. Marc and Eve
Comic book: Invincible
***WARNING! SPOILER FOR INVINCIBLE THE COMIC AND POSSIBLY THE TV SHOW***
Mark (Invincible) and Eve’s (Atom Eve) relationship is this writer’s favorite. They didn’t just survive world takeovers and horrible personal moments, they survived the test of time. In the last issue of Invincible, readers find out that Eve’s powers allow her to cheat death. That meant they’d be together forever. This was a surprise that they didn’t expect, but welcomed. Mark’s Viltrumite DNA meant Mark would live longer than Eve by over a hundred years. Yet, that never mattered. Their only concern was each other.
Eve was Mark’s reality check in life. There were multiple times where he’d do foolish things that put their lives in jeopardy. There were also times when he didn’t believe in himself. On both occasions Eve was there to give him a slap in the head or a reminder of his greatness. Without her, Mark would become a tyrant. It’s shown when multiple evil versions of Invincible show up in the series. None of them had an Adam Eve.
11. Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon
Comic book: Nightwing (Tom Taylor)
Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon have had an on-again/off-again romance since they were teenagers. Like some comic book romances, you could tell they’d always end up together. Even when they were with other people, it always felt like they’d find they’d way back to each other.
Tom Taylor’s Nightwing brought them back together at the perfect time. They’re adults starting new chapters in their lives. Alfred leaving Dick money helped. Because of everything Dick is doing for Bludhaven, Barbara has seen him in a new light and she’s loving it. She’s also helping him make his dreams come true. Their maturity and new look on life has led to their new love becoming stronger.
