The Flash season 9 episode 4 is right around the corner. Here’s everything you need to know about “The Mask of the Red Death, Part 1”.

Team Flash suffered yet another devastating loss in the second episode of season 9 when it was revealed that Caitlin Snow had died trying to bring back Frost. The sacrifice came with the creation of a new character in Khione (also played by Danielle Panabaker), who Team Flash now are helping to find herself to honor Caitlin’s legacy. There are obvious issues with the storyline, but the reception to Khione has been positive.

It’s the final season of the Arrowverse show, and the overarching threat right now involves infamous DC Comics villain The Red Death, who has been sending new Rogues to cause havoc in Central City to send a message to The Flash. We’ve only seen the evil speedster in the shadows thus far, as she vocalized her mission to take down the Scarlet Speedster.

But the Red Death will take center stage in the coming weeks, as we’re about to get a two-parter in which she is at the heart of. The first of those, “The Mask of the Red Death, Part 1”, airs on The CW very soon, and here is all you need to know about it.

The Flash season 9 episode 4, titled “The Mask of the Red Death, Part 1”, airs on The CW next Wednesday, March 1, at 8:00 p.m. ET. It will air alongside a brand new episode of Kung Fu‘s third season.

The Red Death has quickly become a recurring thorn in Team Flash’s side, offering up Rogue after Rogue to take on, distract, or destroy a member of the team or one of their friends. But the fourth episode will see Central City’s new baddie come to the forefront of the storyline.

The official synopsis released by The CW can be found below:

"LET THERE BE DARKNESS – The Flash (Grant Gustin) is forced to make an impossible choice. With the power out in the city, Team Flash calls upon the Rogue Squad to help as Iris (Candice Patton) is visited by an old friend. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) work on finding a balance."

The trailer for “The Mask of the Red Death, Part 1” was released after the third episode aired on The CW. And yes, it’s clear that the Red Death is going to play a huge role in it.

The CW has released the first batch of stills from “The Mask of the Red Death, Part 1”. We’ll say this right away, they don’t give much away, and usually when that happens, it suggests we’re in for a major episode (and that they want much of it to remain a secret).

Nevertheless, let’s take a look at the four that were released and discuss what’s going on in them.

Our first image shows Iris looking either intently focused or vaguely concerned (or both) as she she studies what could be a map on the desk in front of her. What has Mrs. West-Allen figured out?

Speaking of concerned…

Team Flash, which now includes Khione, appear to have discovered something particularly concerning as well. What has Khione, Chester and Allegra looking so frightened in the S.T.A.R. Labs cortex?

Allegra and Chester have what looks to be an important conversation in “Chuck’s” lab. Is this about the Red Death or their recent kiss in the season 9 premiere?

Is now finally the time for Chester and Allegra to be happy, or will they continue to fight their feelings for one another?

And the big one. The first official look at Javicia Leslie as the Red Death after the character’s terrifying unmasking in the previous episode.
