Tom Holland’s MCU return revealed (and it’s not Spider-Man 4)

Tom Holland’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is imminent, but a new rumor suggests that Spider-Man will be back in the MCU before Spider-Man 4.

It’s been over a year since Spider-Man: No Way Home left the future of Tom Holland’s Spidey up in the air. The webslinger was a huge part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s third phase, but how will he factor into it going forward?

We know that he will be back, that much has been confirmed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the young actor will be back for a fourth movie, as they have their story for Spider-Man 4 and their writers “are just putting pen to paper now”.

However, a new rumor suggests that Tom Holland could reprise his role as the web-slinging wonder earlier than that.

Spider-Man to lead the Avengers in The Kang Dynasty?

A new rumor from insider MyTimeToShineHello suggests that Tom Holland has signed a new secret deal to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Spider-Man, and that he could return as the lead of upcoming movie Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Furthermore, they also state that Spider-Man 4 will come out before Avengers: Secret Wars.

It’s important to take all rumors with a pinch of salt until confirmed by Marvel Studios themselves, but there’s a lot to work with in this rumor that suggests it could be true. For starters, we knew that Spider-Man 4 wouldn’t come out during Phase 5, and with The Kang Dynasty being expected as one of the earlier movies in Phase 6, it would make sense for Spidey’s fourth outing to take place between it and Secret Wars.

The notion of Spidey leading the Avengers might sound unlikely to some, but remember that Tony Stark was training Peter Parker to be an Avenger, with the belief that he might follow in his footsteps as a leader someday. While the rest of the Avengers might not remember who Peter is after the events of No Way Home, Peter obviously remembers everything. This opens the door for him to reintroduce himself as a force to be reckoned with.

The next set of Spider-Man movies will likely establish him as more of a leader. He’s not a kid anymore, he’s an adult who has suffered immense loss, and that very well could forge him into the leader that the Avengers need. The question is: Will he lead them into battle against Kang the Conqueror in The Kang Dynasty?
