From the moment Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, Marvel fans have been anxiously awaiting word on what would come of the X-Men franchise and what their arrival could mean for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While certain characters such as Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were able to make the leap to the MCU, the primary roster of X-Men characters have been MIA since the inception of the MCU due to the rights to said characters being in the hands of 20th Century, not Marvel Studios. That all changed with Disney’s acquisition of the studio which finally returned the rights to one of comics’ most iconic group of characters to Marvel Studios.

Although the acquisition was completed in March 2019, Marvel Studios has yet to announce any casting news or X-Men projects but that hasn’t stopped fans from dream casting their favorite actors as we look ahead to the X-Men’s arrival in the MCU.

From the moment word first broke that Disney was making a play for 20th Century Fox, fans have been tossing out their dream castings for the X-Men’s most iconic characters including the likes of Wolverine, Cyclops, and Jean Grey, to name a few.

And then there is X-Men fan-favorite Kitty Pryde, who fans are just as eager to see make her MCU debut and who they’re hoping might be brought to life by one of the most talented actresses around, Millie Bobby Brown.

What Millie Bobby Brown could look like as Kitty Pryde in the MCU

Kitty Pryde, also known as Shadowcat, made her debut in Marvel Comics in 1980 in the pages of X-Men #129. Created by writer Chris Claremont and artist John Byrne, Kitty was introduced as a teenage girl with the power to phase through solid objects. She quickly became a fan-favorite character and a central member of the X-Men team, playing a major role in many storylines over the years. Kitty’s intelligence, bravery, and spunky personality have made her a beloved character in the Marvel Universe, one fans are eager to see enter the MCU as evident by the many pieces of fan art circulating on the internet.

Among the many names who have come up in discussion among fans as being a perfect selection for the role of Shadowcat within the MCU is Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and thanks to one artist's vision we have a glimpse at what she could look like in the role!

Clearly inspired by the ongoing fan dream castings, digital artist cap.ironwidow unveiled a stunning piece of concept art that envisions Brown in the role of Kitty Pryde, offering up our chance to see what exactly Brown could look like if cast in the role.

In jaw-dropping new art, Brown suits up in the X-Men’s iconic blue and gold suits which Kitty is often seen wearing in the pages of the Marvel comics. But it’s the inclusion of Kitty’s longtime companion, Lockheed — a purple alien dragon — that truly helps sell the look and has us excited about the prospect of Brown suiting up in the MCU as Kitty!

Has Millie Bobby Brown been cast in the MCU?

So far, the character Shadowcat has only appeared in a pair of live-action projects with both of those appearances coming in via 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movie franchise. The role of Kitty Pryde was played by Elliott Page in both X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).

Currently, Marvel has not made any official casting announcements for any of the X-Men characters. As such, it is unclear whether Millie Bobby Brown will be playing Kitty Pryde in the MCU. What is known is that Marvel has apparently set its sights on Brown and has made an offer for her to join the franchise!

In 2021, rumors began circulating that Marvel had met with Brown and even offered her a multi-project role within the MCU. These rumors were amplified when Brown hinted to ComicBook’s Brandon Davis that she had met with the studio while playing coy about whether any deal was struck.

"I join many conversations. I would only do something that feels right to me, so when that comes along then, then we’ll talk about it."

Given Stranger Things will soon be wrapping its run, Brown is expected to be extremely sought after and we imagine Marvel will do all it can to bring the show’s breakout performer into the mix via a role in the MCU. Whether that ends up being as part of the X-Men or another Marvel group remains to be seen.

She once auditioned for a key role in the Marvel Universe of films which didn't quite pan out. Perhaps Marvel might be more proactive in trying to land Brown for the next chapter of the MCU than they were in the past before her big break came via Stranger Things.

Let’s just hope Kitty Pryde might be on their radar as we’d love to see Brown suit up as Pryde within the MCU and the above fan art definitely proves she’d be stunning in the role!
