The Last of Us may have just introduced a major season 2 character (and you didn’t even notice!)

Episode 6 of The Last of Us may have introduced Dina from the video game’s sequel. How will this affect the story if this is true?
The Last of Us on HBO has set the bar for what a video game adaptation should be. So far, the creative team hasn’t removed anything from the story that wasn’t important. Storylines like how Ellie and Joel come across Henry and Sam or the story of Bill and Frank are different from the source material, and there’s also the addition of Kathleen Coghlan who was created just for the show. Thankfully, all of the switches haven’t hurt the story. In a lot of ways, they’ve added to it.
Another moment that’s potentially played out differently is when Joel and Ellie finally get to Tommy in episode 6m titled “Kin”. Instead of getting right into a fight, our travelers sat down and had a meal with Tommy and his wife Maria. During that scene, Joel asks Ellie to mind her manners. Of course, she does the opposite. Ellie lashes out at one of the citizens of Jackson. It may have seemed like just a funny moment, but it appears to be more than that. In that moment, viewers may have met Dina.
Dina is one of the most important characters in The Last of Us Part II video game and will be crucial to the show going forward.

The Last of Us’ Dina
During the aforementioned scene in “Kin”, there was a young woman staring at Ellie from behind a pole. That person could be Ellie’s future partner Dina. Not just partner with hunting, but in love as well. Her relationship throughout The Last of Us Part II is crucial to the story of the game from start to finish, especially on her journey to get revenge for Joel.
Paolina van Kleef is credited as “staring girl” on IMDb. Naturally, passionate fans of the video game are curious as to whether she is secretly playing Dina. If she is indeed playing Dina, it’s a brilliant way to introduce her to The Last of Us series. This can be a nice way for Dina to say that she liked Ellie from the first time she saw her. Later they’ll both laugh that Ellie yelled at Dina and how Dina reacted to that moment.
If this is Dina, it will be a nice Easter Egg for fans of The Last of Us video game. Specifically, if you caught this before anyone else. It doesn’t matter that this isn’t how they met or that it didn’t happen in the game. As long as it fits the flow of the show, the fans won’t mind. Especially since the show has proved that they understand the fans of the game and created an amazing product.
