There are few video games in the world today quite as popular as The Last of Us. If you are a gamer, it’s highly likely that you’ve at least had a conversation about it at some point. It’s that relevant in the world of gaming, and has been for some time now.
It also became a lot more relevant this year in another field of entertainment: Television. HBO has adapted the series for the screen and it premiered on Sunday, January 15, on both the cable channel and the HBO Max streaming service to rave reviews from fans and critics.
Naturally, there were concerns that The Last of Us will find itself on the list of failed video game adaptations, but that has not happened throughout its incredible first-season run.
The series has certainly become many people’s new Sunday night obsession, but how many more episodes are left? Here’s how long the first season runs for.
How many episodes of The Last of Us are there?
The Last of Us‘ first season consists of nine episodes. All of them premiered on Sunday nights, with the premiere “When You’re Lost in the Darkness” kicking off at 9:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
There were initially rumors that the first season would have 10 episodes but it turns out that there will actually be nine. That could have something to do with the fact that its premiere episode is super-sized (and thus a tenth episode wasn’t needed) but it could also have been just rumors.
How many episodes are left of The Last of Us season 1?
As of writing, there are just two more episodes of The Last of Us season 1 that have yet to air. The season finale “Look For the Light”, airs on Sunday, March 12, at 9:00 p.m. ET. Here is the rundown of episodes that have aired, and those that remain.
