X-Men No. 20 welcomed the former New York Mayor and Kingpin of Crime to Krakoa thanks to a loophole in Krakoan law.

When Charles Xavier, Magneto, and Moira MacTaggert created Krakoa, there were rules that benefitted all of Marvel’s mutants (read House of X and Powers of X for more on that). Among them is citizenship.

Every mutant was born with Krakoan citizenship and allowed to live on the island. This was a benefit granted for a mutant’s partner as well. For example, Northstar’s husband Kyle lives on Krakoa. In X-Men No. 20 (written by Gerry Duggan), a new mutant brought their husband to Krakoa to claim citizenship. Typhoid Mary has arrived on Krakoa with her hubby, Wilson Fisk.

Wilson Fisk and Typhoid Mary got married in Daredevil No. 36 by Chip Zdarsky. No one saw the relationship coming let alone the marriage. What’s even weirder is that they really love each other. This isn’t a power play for Wilson Fisk or Mary. However, both of them understand that there’s power in what they each have. In this case, Mary being a mutant works in their favor. With Wilson Fisk wanted by Interpol for multiple crimes, Krakoa could be the one place on Earth where he can stay safe. For now at least. Emma Frost will have something to say about that.

In Devil’s Reign: X-Men No. 3 (also written by Gerry Duggan), Fisk made the mistake of crossing Emma Frost. She told Fisk that their altercation taught her a lesson of patience. Emma ended their conversation saying that he still has her killing him to look forward to. A threat that Emma meant, but not literally.

One of the rules of Krakoa is that mutants can’t kill humans. Since Wilson Fisk isn’t a mutant, she can’t kill him. However, she can make his life on Krakoa as uncomfortable as possible. That’s before she eventually kicks him off the island.

Fisk may be smart, cunning, and powerful, but he’s not Emma Frost. Emma will find a way to defeat Fisk and leave him embarrassed. Life will be uncomfortable for Emma Frost and the X-Men for a while, but eventually Fisk will be kicked off the island with his bride Typhoid Mary. That’s if Mary’s not thrown into exile in The Pit.

Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to learn how this eventually ends.
