Superman and Lois season 3 makes its long-awaited premiere on The CW in the coming weeks. Here’s when it will premiere and all you need to know about “Closer”.

It’s almost time for Superman and Lois to return to TV screens. As a fan of the show, there is so much relief in that sentence. It’s been a turbulent time for The CW and DC, with the network’s future filled with uncertainty after its sale saw the cancellation of many of its core shows, and DC Studios’ creation killing a lot of beloved DC projects.

For now, Superman and Lois‘ future is safe, but we’ll have to wait and see whether The CW wants to renew it for a fourth season. Before that, though, we get to enjoy season 3, which has been in the making for a very long time.

This season is set to be a big one for the Arrowverse offshoot, and to say fans are ready for it would be a huge understatement. So, on that note, here’s everything you need to know about when to expect the season 3 premiere and what you can expect from the episode itself.

Superman and Lois season 3 episode 1 release date and time

Superman and Lois season 3 will premiere on The CW on Tuesday, March 14 2023, at 8:00 p.m. ET. It will act as a lead-in to new DC series Gotham Knights which airs its series premiere immediately afterwards.

Tuesdays have been Superman and Lois‘ night since its premiere. It’s often seen as The CW’s biggest night as it has housed some of its most successful superhero shows over the past decade, including The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl.

The season 3 premiere of Superman and Lois promises a season full of change for the Kent-Lane-Irons Family, as well as the other residents of Smallville. The season 3 premiere is titled “Closer”, and that’s exactly what it’s all about, as everyone is closer after the near world-ending experience of Ally Allston’s world-merging attempt.

The season will also introduce new villain Bruno Mannheim – someone who John Henry Irons is in the midst of investigating after receiving an assignment from John Diggle at the end of last season.

"“DIRECTED BY TOM CAVANAGH – Season three of SUPERMAN & LOIS opens weeks after Superman’s blowout defeat of Ally Allston. Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) are now working at the Smallville Gazette together and enjoying small town life. But the Kents’ romantic bliss only shines a light on how isolating “the secret” can be, as Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik) struggles to balance a new love interest and her friendship with Lois. However, Lois’ own work-life balance is put to the test when an undercover assignment reveals a deadly foe that promises to change the Kent family forever. Superman would move heaven and earth for his family, but with a villain this merciless, even that might not be enough. Meanwhile, the Kent boys find themselves being pulled in opposite directions. The CW initially released two preview photos from Superman and Lois‘ season 3 premiere last year to give us our first glimpse at the new season. However, they have since released a batch of new photos and it’s safe to to say that there is a lot happening in the season kick-off.

We love to see Clark Kent and Lois Lane happy! That’s one of the things that have made Superman and Lois such an incredible and joyous show. It’s good to know that the season 3 premiere will feature more of that.

There is a change coming for the Kent-Lane-Irons family, though, as the new Jonathan Kent makes his debut.

Released last year to give us our first look at Michael Bishop in the role of Jonathan Kent, the young actor replaces Jordan Elsass, who left the show after its second season.

Jonathan and Jordan’s scenes were an important part of Superman & Lois‘ success, so it’s good to know that the twins will still share some moments in the show’s third season.

As the season 3 trailer revealed, Jonathan and Jordan will be celebrating their 16th birthday, so what better excuse for a party on the Kent Farm?! But who has given Jonathan a gift (and that perplexing look from him and his friends!)?

Mayor Lana Lang and her daughter Sarah Cushing are on the invite list for Jonathan and Jordan’s birthday party, and you would expect nothing less given how close they are to the Kents.

But the trailer teased more tension between Sarah and Jordan. Are they still struggling to get on the same page after their rocky road last season?

The above image implies that this is the case, as Jordan and Sarah share what appears to be a tense moment at the former’s birthday party.

It looks like Chrissy Beppo is also among the invitees to the twins’ birthday party, and that makes sense given that she’s Lois’ partner at the Smallville Gazette.

John Henry Irons has a close working relationship with Grandpa Sam Lane and it’s not surprising since Sam was John’s father-in-law on his Earth, but why do they look oddly tense in this photo? Is there a new threat on the way that the DOD needs Steel’s help with?

Proud parents Lois Lane and Clark Kent catch up with their best friend Lana Lang at the boys’ birthday party. We love Lana, and we’re so happy about the fact that she’s now in the loop on the Fam of Steel’s Super secrets.

Here’s hoping there are plenty more scenes between these three in season 3!

A rather tense Sarah looks on with concern at something in town. But just who – or what – is she looking at?

Sarah’s parents Lana and Kyle have a conversation in town. In season 2, Lana discovered that Kyle had cheated on her a long time ago and though he had ended it and acknowledged it was a mistake, she couldn’t forgive him for the betrayal.

The season 3 trailer teased divorce papers for these two. Is this really the end of the Kyle-Cushing relationship?

Lois stands in her kitchen with a look of concern. From the looks of things, this is the outfit she is wearing in the trailer when she reveals to Clark that she might be pregnant. Has she been caught off-guard by the discovery?

By the looks of this photo, Clark is standing behind his wife, perhaps waiting for her to open up to him. This is also the outfit that Clark is wearing during that scene in the trailer.

The Man of Steel himself, Superman, standing against what looks to be the Metropolis skyline. With characters like Bruno Mannheim and Lex Luthor to contend with, it seems like Superman and Lois season 3 could be spending more time in the city… and that’s a good thing!
