Who plays the new Jonathan Kent on Superman and Lois season 3?
Superman and Lois season 3 features a new Jonathan Kent. Who plays the beloved character after Jordan Elsass’ departure?
The change of ownership at The CW has resulted in a lot of change at the network, including the cancellation of many of its flagship shows last year. One show that was thankfully safe from the ax is Superman and Lois. The DC TV series was renewed for a third season early last year, and now it’s finally set to make its presence felt on TV screens this month.
The third season will feature a host of new actors, with The Walking Dead stars Chad L. Coleman and Michael Cudlitz playing Superman villains Bruno Mannheim and Lex Luthor. The biggest cast change, though, will come from the Kent Family, as Jonathan Kent will have a new face this season.
Actor Jordan Elsass, who played Jonathan for the first two seasons, left the show ahead of season 3’s production. Shortly afterwards, the role was recast, and we will meet the new Jonathan in the season 3 premiere.
Before that, let’s get to know the new actor bringing Jonathan to life.
Superman and Lois season 3 new Jonathan Kent actor
From season 3 of Superman and Lois onwards, the role of Jonathan Kent is played by Michael Bishop. This is undoubtedly the biggest role of the Australian actor’s young career so far, but prior to this, he also appeared in six episodes of the drama series Grace Beside Me, the shorts Shelter, and Skin Like Bark, and the Disney Channel Original Movie Spin.
Being the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, and twin brother of Jordan, Jonathan is one of Superman and Lois‘ most central characters. As we learned in the first season, he and his mother are the extraordinary humans in a family of super-people.
Elsass’ exit in the role came as a shock to fans as he had such great chemistry with all of his fellow actors. Needless to say, he’ll be missed. But we’re also very excited to see Michael Bishop tackle the role in season 3 and beyond.
