Fans are thrilled at the prospect of Jean Grey’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and this image of Sadie Sink has made them even more excited.

The X-Men are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When? Well, we don’t quite know yet, but we do know the iconic superheroes will soon be making their way to the MCU now that the rights to the characters are finally in Marvel’s possession.

When the time comes for the X-Men to begin making their debuts in the MCU, it seems likely Marvel will turn to some of the group’s most iconic members.

Of course, it’s easy to jump right to someone like Wolverine, who has long been one of the most popular X-Men characters and one the most popular characters from 20th Century Fox’s film franchise. We get it and we definitely can’t imagine the X-Men in the MCU without Wolverine on the team.

But we also want to see Marvel honor the origins of the iconic grouping by showing love to the characters who were part of the original team including one who has been a staple in the 20th Century films: Jean Grey. She’s a character who has rich roots in the X-Men comics and has been played by some truly amazing actresses on the big screen over the years.

So it seems only natural that Marvel keeps the tradition going by casting yet another talented and beloved actress to bring the character to life within the MCU — an actress who is no stranger to global franchises!

What Sadie Sink might look like as Jean Grey in the MCU

One of the favorites among fans to play the role of Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, whose star power only continues to grow stronger. Hot off a breakout performance in the fourth season of Stranger Things, fans are eager to know what projects could be coming Sink’s way as Stranger Things heads into its final season.

Should Marvel come calling, digital artist cap.ironwidow has given the studio a compelling argument for why Sink would be perfect for the role of Jean Grey!

In a stunning piece of concept art, Sink is transformed into Jean Grey in an image that makes a bold statement and showcases how incredible Sink could look in the role if given the chance.

Not only does Sink perfectly match the character’s iconic looks from the comics, but we know she would deliver a masterful performance as the troubled character.

What Sadie Sink could look like as Dark Phoenix in the MCU

In addition to giving fans a glimpse of what Sadie Sink could look like in the role of Jean Grey, digital artist cap.ironwidow has also given us a look at what Sink could look like as Jean’s alter ego, the Dark Phoenix.

Via the stunning art, we get a chance to see how amazing Sink transformed into the Dark Phoenix as the art is leveled up to showcase Jean’s darker side. In the art, we see Sink once again donning the signature X-Men uniform with the addition of the red leather jacket Jean is often seen rocking when she’s transformed into the Dark Phoenix.

What truly brings the art together is the Phoenix rising in the background as flames of the Phoenix Force surround her to create a compelling argument for why Marvel should keep Sink on their list shortlist for playing the character when the time comes for the X-Men to enter the MCU.

Sadie Sink addresses Marvel casting rumors

During an interview with Extra‘s Katie Krause, Sadie Sink revealed she has seen the rumors floating around the internet regarding her joining the MCU and sadly confirmed there is nothing to the rumors at this time. As Sink told Krause, “I’ve seen the rumors. I don’t know where they came from, but as of now they are not true.”

When Krause mentioned some of the amazing fan art depicting Sink in the role of various characters, Sink admitted that she needed to check the art out and confessed that she would indeed be interested in appearing in a superhero series should the right role come around.

"“Oh okay, I need to look at this fan art,” Sink replied when asked about the fan art’s compelling case for why she should join the MCU. “Yeah, if the right superhero comes along then sure. Who wouldn’t want to play a superhero?”"

Is Sadie Sink joining the MCU?

Marvel has been historically known to keep its casting decisions under wrap. As such, Marvel Studios has not directly revealed whether it has cast Sadie Sink in an upcoming Marvel project. However, there have been a number of rumors to emerge in recent months that suggest Sink is on Marvel’s radar.

According to rumors originating from Giant Freakin Robot, Sink is reported to be joining the MCU in the upcoming Phases. Although the timeline and identity of which character she might be playing were not confirmed in the report, it sounds like she could be entering the mix as a member of the Thunderbolts, not as a member of the X-Men.

So just who might Sink be playing in the MCU? At this time, speculation is growing over whether Sink will be playing Songbird, a villain turned hero with supersonic sound abilities.

The rumor continues to gain traction with additional sources reporting Marvel is looking to bring Sink in as Songbird, this time with rumors swirling on Marvel Reddit threads. These rumors suggest Sink would join the MCU as Songbird in 2024’s Thunderbolts.

If Sink indeed ends up joining the cast of Thunderboltsshe’ll join an all-star-level cast that happens to include her Stranger Things co-star David Harbour who will be reprising his role as Red Guardian in the film. Also set to appear in the upcoming film are Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier), Wyatt Russell (John Walker / US Agent), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr / Ghost), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine).
