DC: Dream casting James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Justice League heroes
Alexander Ludwig as Aquaman
If you’ve seen any of my fan cast, you already know how I feel about Alexander Ludwig. Sure, there are plenty of actors who could play Aquaman, but his portrayal of Bjorn Ironside in Vikings proves he has the range to take on a heroic and commanding role. His physicality and height, bulk, and features fit the comic book-accurate look of Aquaman, and his portrayal of a strong and determined leader in Vikings makes him a perfect fit for the role.
In Vikings, Ludwig’s character Bjorn displays the qualities of a true warrior and leader, which are essential traits for Aquaman. He has also shown his versatility by appearing in a range of genres, including horror, comedy, and action films, demonstrating his ability to take on any role. Thanks to Jason Momoa and director James Wan, we got to see a unique take on a hero that was a running joke among DC fans. The former Game of Thrones actor brought swag to the role, and Ludwig can continue it.
If The Flash is resetting the timeline, introducing Ludwig as Aquaman in a comic book storyline would be a great way to reintroduce the character to the DCU without relying on an origin story. Ludwig’s presence on screen would immediately capture the essence of Aquaman and bring a fresh energy to the character. If they wanted an older version of the hero Travis Fimmel is a fan cast darling who would be perfect.
