A recent update for casting on the new Clark Kent aka Superman is under James Gunn’s crosshairs for DCU reboot Superman: Legacy…
James Gunn has placed himself as the “go-to guy” for all things DC news for transparency, which as a writer of geek culture and entertainment news, has been refreshing for once as this writer did not appreciate when insiders who spread misinformation about so-called problems on hidden secrets happening in the film industry behind the scenes. So when a rumor from scooper and film critic Grace Randolph of Beyond the Trailer dropped hinting DC was closing in on its new Superman, Gunn was quick to jump into action.
Gunn debunked a rumor when a fan asked whether a scoop was true that casting has been advanced within the process regarding the leading actor for the role of Superman. Not only did the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker state that it was “untrue,” but he also confirmed they have only made a list of potential actors for the movie and that casting has not actually begun.
Randolph then doubled down following claims the casting of the Man of Steel would soon be announced. She implied in true “Randolph” fashion that the frontrunner of the role was in final talks and is Percy Jackson star, Logan Lerman. At which point Gunn again dismissed those claims on Twitter.
When should we expect casting to be announced?
As per The Direct, since Gunn’s recent update about Superman: Legacy is to be believed, it sounds like a major announcement of who could be the next Last Son of Krypton in the next six months. This means some meetings with actors are either taking place or the final version of the script is near complete.
